5 Stars Tandem Insert for Tricycle
I have 2 kids so I decided to order the tandem seat. It was easy to add on to the Kettler Jumbo Tricycle. As soon as I ordered and payed for it the item came within a 5 day period. If you have more than one kids than I would suggest you look into this. You can add up to 4 seats.

5 Stars Kettler Tandem insert so fun!
I had a Kettler trike for my two older children and loved the well-constructed, durable trike. When our twins came along, I was thrilled to find Kettler made a tandem insert. The tandem was easy to install and my twins (two years old) love it. I thought they would fight over who was in front, but they both take turns and seem to prefer the back seat (because the Kettler bell I bought works better than the no-name bell I have on the front seat.) Anytime we take the tandem out we draw lots of attention – no one has seen a double trike before. My twins aren’t old enough to steer the trike yet (that ususally happens about age three) so it is tricky to turn corners. With a single Kettler trike you can pop it up to turn it. I read many reviews of people that had broken their trike when they tried to pop it up. I lift the back of the trike up and slide it side to side to turn it. It is a lot of work, but my boys love going out on their bike so much it is worth it. Once they learn to steer it will be a lot easier to take them out.

4 Stars Fun, but makes stroller tough to maneuver
We bought this to add another seat to our Air Navigator. The key thing to note is that the trike becomes pretty difficult to maneuver once you’ve added this insert. When we only had one seat, I would lock the steering mechanism, for both the kid and the rear handle, and would steer the trike by physically tilting and rotating it. That is, I’d tilt the trike back and swivel it on the rear tires to turn. That way of steering is now impossible – it’s simply too heavy with two kids to steer in that way. Instead, you have to unlock the back steering mechanism and use the rear handle to steer. This can be a bit difficult. The trike is so heavy that it’s tough to push around, much less to turn. And the steering mechanism takes some getting used to – you’ll probably end up heading off the sidewalk a few times early on. Ultimately, it’s a two hand job as you can no longer really push or steer the trike with one hand.

Having said that, you’ll have fun once you get the hang of it. It’ll take a while to do so, however, and if you’re not reasonably strong or get annoyed by losing control of the trike, you may want to pass. You’ll also want to pass on trying to add a third seat, as I’ve seen in some pics from Kettler. I suspect that this would make the trike completely unmanageable.

2 Stars its small !
we bought this for our air navigator so that our 4 yr old and 2 yr old could ride together, but the seat is so small! the seat even seems small for the 2 yr old compared to the air navigator seat. as pictured, this insert is the front seat for the person who has to pedal. so the stronger person gets a small seat. the only other issue i have is that my 4 yr old’s knees hit the handlebars because you can’t adjust the seat back very far (he’s avg height to slightly above avg maybe). its a nice product but keep in mind the seat is really really small.

3 Stars Kids love it, but it’s a bit short
We bought this insert to go on an Air Navigator. As other reviewers have mentioned, not all Kettler trikes can use this insert. Check with the manufacturer’s site, e.g. www.kettlerusa.com, to be sure.

My one complaint with this product is that it is too short. This insert connects between your existing seat and your existing handlebars, so the red seat pictured here becomes the front seat. The trouble is that the insert, when positioned for maximum leg length of the pedaler, is at a shorter distance then when the trike without the insert is set up for maximum leg length.

So imagine your older child, who needs to be in front because he/she can pedal, and the younger is in back. It makes sense that the older child needs more leg room, so you would expect at least that the insert should give you the same maximum leg length to the front rider as the trike normally does when you remove the insert. Sadly this is not the case. Maybe it sets up differently on other Kettrikes, but on the Air Navigator, this is how it is. I think this is a most unfortunate design flaw.

That said, it is not a show-stopper. There is still enough room to pedal, but it is obviously suboptimal. The kids love it.
