Fizik 2009 Gobi XM MTB Bicycle Saddle Braided Carbon Rails Black F1700809

The Fizik Gobi XM Braided Carbon Saddle is one of our favorite saddles — it adapts technology from the Fizik Arione road saddle for MTB use. Like the Arione, the Fizik Gobi XM Braided Carbon Saddle features a flat profile with WingFlex technology, which is Aramid cloth wrapped around the plastic shell on the sides. The shell has tines, like a comb, which are suspended in place by the Aramid. Depending on how you ride it, the plastic underneath breaks free of the rest of the saddle and the Aramid holds the shell in place, creating controlled flex. Likewise, the TailFlex works the same way. The Aramid-wrapped tail pieces (more tines) are designed to give more than solid plastic and as a pattern of use emerges, the section softens, the shell pieces breaking free of the shell but remaining attached via the cloth wrap flexing more and with your body. And the distance between the rails and the top of the saddle shell has been moved closer to one another for both lighter weight, less chance of chafing between the rails and saddle body, and better aesthetics. The rails are made from braided carbon-fiber and then wrapped with another layer of carbon fiber cloth for even greater durability as well as a rough surface for easy clamping. Another design feature for adding strength to the rails is the fact that they’re oval — 9mm tall by 7mm wide. People are going to ask if carbon-fiber rails are durable enough for off-road riding. The saddle possesses Fizik’s Integrated Clip System (ICS)
